First, educate you hands and your minds. You belong to a church which espouses education.... Get all the education you can. Train yourselves to make a contribution to the society in which you will live. There is en essence of the divine in the improvement of the mind....

I would wish that all of you women... would not have to go out into the marketplace to labor for income. But I know that for some of you this may be a necessity, and you will be better equipped to do so if your hands and minds are trained. Furthermore, whether it is applied to earning a living or not, education is an investment that never ceases to pay dividends of one kind or another.

接受教育是很重要的事，年青時我錯過了，辜負了雙親及老師們對我的期望，並且因為學識的不足一度使自己的生活充滿壓力。過往幾年一直希望重拾書本，奈何因為家庭角色的轉變，外面提供的種種專業課程都不再適合自己－－譬如說大哥出生時我在公開大學修讀了二十個學分的翻譯課程，假使現在我繼續完成它，取得翻譯的學位，我也不可能（也不會放下小豬們）再接全職的翻譯工作，那麼我應該堅持完成這個學位？還是應該放棄呢？

這份掙扎，加上早幾年經濟緊張，所以一直未有提起。

上星期發現學校開辦家長副學士課程，修畢後只要再在其他高級課程額外修讀四十個學分，我便可以取得通識學士學位。除了圓畢業的夢，這個學位提供了一個基礎，讓我可以再讀其他一度非常有興趣，但沒資格讀的課程，例如心理學、幼兒和特殊教育、護理學－－孩子長大，除了在教會服務，我盼望有足夠的能力，可以在特殊教育方面作點貢獻。

以我每年修畢十個學分的速度，待雪雪中學畢業，我也應該完成了最基本的學業了。說不定還可以和她一起拍畢業照哩。
